Happy Easter.
Loved this podcast, and going to buy this guy’s book, and that’s saying something since the last book I read was “Fab Five” junior year of College.
I thought of you guys yesterday when Jakey’s soccer team lost their 1st game in over 3 &1/2 seasons 4-3. He got in the car and I thought, here we go don’t say anything. He said “my team won 6-5.” I told him how much I liked watching him play, and how great that goal was that he scored. I still had an inner sadness that their streak had come to an end. I had to stop myself from letting it bother me. We commute to Highlands Ranch 45 minutes away because we love his coach, team, the parents, and in no particular order…winning. Jake will turn 6 on May 31st.
I definitely need to check my competitive ego at the door.
little guy- glad the interview helped. i didn’t understand in your comment above when Jake said “my team won 6-5” did he think he won? or did you mis-type?
Nope. He won’t accept losing. So he changed the score to his team winning by 1. I just let it roll. Only the 2nd game he’s lost in 4 seasons other than tournaments when they play up. I don’t even know if he really gets how to lose and that its okay.
