Cathy and Todd discuss talking to kids about fear – how to notice it, normalize, and get creative with it. They process why parents need to acknowledge their own fear so they can authentically talk with their kids about being afraid. They share why fear is not always bad and why it gets us closer to the truth. They answer listener questions about religion and music in family culture, and how a pregnant busy mom can find some quiet. They also reference Pema Chodron and Byron Katie.

As I was listening to new cast after news cast the horrific events in Orlando I found myself becoming more and more anxious and afraid. I new I had to turn off the news and find something more positive to listen to. I immediately turned to Zen Parenting radios Podcast. As I had hoped, there was a Podcast about talking to your kids about fear that was just recorded. It not only helped me better understand how to help my children through these horrible events, but it helped me deal with my own anxieties and fears as well. Thanks for always being there Todd and Cathy!

Hi Cathy and Todd!!
Your story about Skylar reminded me of myself when I was younger. When I was in middle school I saw this scene (I put the link below) in Harry Potter and it helped me realize that I don’t have to be afraid of my own imagination. I was able to change the scary shadows on the walls into funny things. I think that just realizing I had the power to change them, gave me confidence as well. I LOVE your show! You two have helped me so much over the past few years! I started listening when I was 22 and you have helped me get through so many hard times. I hope this video can maybe help skylar! Also my middle name is sky 🙂
