Cathy and Todd talk about suffering and why we either transform it, or we transmit it (quote taken from Richard Rohr). They also discuss why it’s important to celebrate young women, why talking about sexuality is so important, why tampons and pads have a “luxury” tax, and what it means to be in the “8:30 club”. The first three people to purchase Cathy’s award–winning book, Living What You Want Your Kids to Learn through the Zen Parenting website will also receive a free copy of The Conscious Parent by Dr. Shefali Tsabary.

Relative to the first part of the show: “We all see you” – resonated so deeply. While visiting our daughter, who is doing a semester abroad, she got word that a young college woman she knows took her own life. Talking it through with my daughter, she and I concluded that being fully seen and fully accepted, welcoming, celebrating in the bad and ugly that comes with being human and that comes with the unique mix of complex contradictions that we are as an individual; – all of that is an absolute necessity for a child to come to fully know and fully accept him/herself. And we concluded that parents need to live that, fully accepting it in ourselves for our children to witness. Only then do the children have a chance to come to fully accept the bad, ugly, and good in themselves. Cathy, it’s part of what you get at in your book. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with the world! Congrats for the well deserved recognition!
