Cathy & Todd: Very nicely done. My hubby died when my kids were 4 & 1. My youngest is now 10 and has no memory of him and loves to talk about him. She lights up when someone tells her, “I knew your daddy and here’s what I remember about him…..” IMO, someone should never avoid mentioning the deceased person. It is not as if we’ve forgotten and you’ll shock us with the reminder that the person is gone. She often says it’s not fair and I just agree with her that she’s right: It’s not fair. I can’t explain the ‘whys’ and I can’t change it, so I just hug her and validate her frustrations.
