Why was the Violence Against Women Act, initially passed in 1994, allowed to expire? Todd and Cathy discuss this, women’s safety, and how India is peacefully protesting violence against women. They also discuss the key to keeping a relationship alive and healthy, and they reference the movie Hope Springs.

Great podcast this week. I was wondering if you have any tips on speaking my truth. I grew up in a house where that was just not done. “say nothing” was what I was told when i came up against something I felt was wrong. My parents did not do it in a mean way, it was how they were raised. You figured out a way to deal with the injustice of it all. You never confronted the issue. I then went on to marry someone who does not want to talk about issues. If I bring things up, he has panic attacks, literally. So I feel that if I speak my truth it send my world into free fall. How do I take the first step?
Barbara,
Sorry about the tardy response. It’s best to email us @ comments@zenparentingradio.com I have to be honest, i don’t have any words of wisdom. cathy’s much better at this stuff than i am. whenever i feel “stuck” i seek out support in the best way i know how. for me it’s either Cathy or i go to the books of any number of my favorite authors. i’d be happy to make some recommendations for you if you’d like. thanks for listening to the show. make sure you email back to comments@zenparentingradio.com
Thanks again,
Todd
